Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
  • Proven experience building data-centric frameworks, APIs, and services at scale
  • Deep expertise in software engineering fundamentals, with a strong command of distributed systems and cloud-native architecture patterns
  • Experience with modern data platforms and related tooling like Databricks, Snowflake, EMR, Airflow, Kafka, Spark
  • Experience with CICD and DevOps tools like Jenkins, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of AI/ML, GenAI, and AI-powered automation
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to lead through influence and to navigate complex problem spaces
  • Adept at evaluating and articulating the strategic and financial impact of new capabilities, features, and investments
  • Operates with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset - prioritizing customer value and continuous improvement through resilient, scalable systems
  • Leads with empathy and intention, fostering a culture of trust, empowerment, and growth in alignment with Nike’s Maxims

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale key components of Nike’s enterprise data mesh and marketplace to support federated data ownership through centralized capabilities and governance
  • Develop services for consistency in business KPI/metric definition, lineage, and publication and usage
  • Enable GenAI-powered analytics by embedding LLM capabilities into BI and reporting workflows
  • Partner with Product leaders to engage a global community of internal users to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that are intuitive, impactful, and governed
  • Partner with Principal Engineers to develop tools and frameworks for improving security, reliability, scalability, and self-service capabilities within Nike’s data ecosystem
  • Partner across teams to ensure continuous alignment, smooth integration, and solution consistency
  • Help define and enforce engineering standards for data-centric software development across the organization
  • Mentor team engineers and foster a culture of innovation, trust, and technical excellence
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends to continuously evolve Nike’s data strategy and delivery practices
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
