An expert-level understanding of QA methodologies, best practices, and evolving industry standards is essential, along with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to influence across departments and drive a shared vision for quality.
The Director will champion quality across the software development lifecycle, establishing transparency and highlighting risks impacting product integrity in collaboration with development and agile leadership. They will lead and grow a community of Agile Testers, define the department's testing approach, identify skill gaps, and coordinate upskilling opportunities. Responsibilities include hosting Test Community forums, driving adoption of modern quality practices like BDD and TDD, advocating for defect prevention, and contributing to maturing Lean and Agile practices. The role also involves owning and evolving QA tooling and frameworks, collaborating with security teams for integrated security testing, ensuring early risk identification by test engineers, promoting pairing between QA and software engineers, maintaining visibility of automated test results, presenting testing risks to stakeholders, owning and evolving the end-to-end testing process, defining testing's role within the SDLC, and establishing and monitoring meaningful quality metrics and forward-looking test strategies.
