Position Overview

TRUEWERK is seeking an experienced marketplace expert to drive growth across key online platforms. Reporting to the VP of Ecommerce, this role will collaborate with marketing and operations teams to expand TRUEWERK's brand presence and connect with trade professionals. The Director of Marketplaces will lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of business across Amazon, Walmart, and emerging marketplaces, focusing on revenue, profitability, and operational excellence. This is a strategic and hands-on role requiring deep knowledge of marketplace best practices and data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

Marketplace Strategy & Growth

  • Own the performance of the marketplace business, managing revenue, profitability, and operational efficiencies to meet annual sales and ROAS goals.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for Amazon, Walmart, and other emerging marketplaces, aligned with the company's ecommerce vision.
  • Define short-term and long-term growth plans using data, insights, and market trends.
  • Identify new marketplace opportunities and build an expansion roadmap.

Forecasting, Reporting & Performance Analytics

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including sales, advertising efficiency (ROAS, CPC, CPS), contribution margin, and operational performance.
  • Partner with Finance, Performance Marketing, and leadership to develop monthly revenue forecasts.
  • Develop and implement data-driven reporting frameworks for decision-making and executive updates.

Channel Operations & Optimization

  • Oversee listing optimization, pricing strategies, and inventory management for Amazon and Walmart.
  • Manage relationships with Amazon and Walmart account managers to stay informed of platform updates and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with supply planning and fulfillment teams to optimize inventory and ensure excellent customer experience.
  • Work with the agency partner to optimize media and retail aspects, overseeing Amazon Advertising (AMS) and Walmart Connect strategies to improve efficiency and ROI, while ensuring marketplace policy adherence.

Cross-Functional & Agency Collaboration

  • Partner with marketing, demand planning, operations, and customer service teams to ensure an integrated marketplace strategy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a marketplace expert with a track record of accelerating growth on online platforms.
  • Deep understanding of marketplace best practices (Amazon, Walmart).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to uncover insights and drive growth.
  • Experience in developing and executing marketplace strategies.
  • Proficiency in forecasting, reporting, and performance analytics.
  • Experience in channel operations and optimization, including listing management, pricing, and inventory.
  • Familiarity with marketplace advertising platforms (e.g., Amazon Advertising, Walmart Connect).
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and external agency partners.
