Sysco’s Business Technology department aims to provide innovative business solutions that eliminate waste, maximize customer satisfaction, and improve business productivity. This role is part of the Global Business Technology Infrastructure organization.

Role Summary

The Global Infrastructure and Operations Lead (GIO) for Europe will lead an overall central team of approximately 100 resources (employees and contractors, with ~6-8 direct reports) to deliver best-in-class IT Services. This critical role focuses on ensuring the delivery of technical operations strategy and services across Sysco Europe’s infrastructure landscape. The ideal candidate will collaborate with business and technical leaders globally, demonstrating strong communication and influence skills, managing multiple priorities, and possessing deep knowledge of key infrastructure capabilities (network, cloud, data centers). A strategic vision to simplify and modernize systems, remove redundancies, and improve inefficiencies is essential.

Essential Functions

• Develop a strong understanding of Sysco’s European business units, their goals, business strategy, and technology landscape.
• Collaborate with business and technology leaders to execute the technical operations strategy, future state vision, and technology roadmaps.
• Define, document, and maintain comprehensive infrastructure views (current and future).
• Demonstrate strong financial acumen and experience managing a large budget, with agility to reforecast and adapt to business changes.
• Execute the future state infrastructure vision and Sysco’s global infrastructure strategy, aligning with global Enterprise Architecture (EA) standards.
• Provide technology leadership, infrastructure oversight, and high-level solution design guidance for key technology initiatives and strategic planning.
• Contribute to initial infrastructure setup and project requirements.
• Assure long-term support processes are in place, including managed support, patching, monitoring, and support contracts.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and assist with technology vendor and product selection.
• Balance strategic and tactical work, with the ability to diagnose issues and provide solutions at a detailed level.
• Remain calm and effective under pressure, communicating concisely and clearly.
• Work with the Mergers & Acquisition team for due diligence and to advance an M&A playbook.
• Successfully influence within direct and matrixed organizational structures.
• Prioritize and organize work effectively to handle multiple competing priorities.
• Exhibit highly seasoned interpersonal and communication skills, credible across all leadership levels and partner groups.
• Establish a communications protocol for regular and ad hoc stakeholder communications.
• Translate technical information into understandable terms for various audiences, from senior leaders to technical teams.
• Demonstrate agility and realism in scope formation with creative solutioning.
