Position Overview

Confluent is revolutionizing data movement with its platform that puts information in motion, enabling near real-time streaming for companies to react faster, build smarter, and deliver dynamic experiences. We are seeking a senior leader to build the global and regional control plane for all of Confluent's cloud offerings. This critical architectural component will manage product metadata, orchestration, and inter-product workflows, focusing on high-scale resource management and data management services.

About the Role

The Cloud Platform team is responsible for the low-latency, high-throughput, and critical workflows that power Confluent Cloud. This platform facilitates end-to-end management, monitoring, elasticity, security, and orchestration of the entire cloud ecosystem. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will drive the vision, define the roadmap, and build a high-performing engineering organization for this essential part of our architecture.

Responsibilities

• Build global and regional control planes to scale Confluent Cloud for the next era of streaming data services.
• Enhance and overhaul the operational posture and excellence of the cloud infrastructure to support 10x scale.
• Develop data management and orchestration technology capable of operating and scaling across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Design automations, platforms, best practices, and tools to enable disaster recovery for data stores, stateful systems, and stateless systems.
• Partner with senior leadership in R&D to drive cultural, technical, people, and process improvements within a growing organization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering management experience leading productive, collaborative, high-functioning teams in a cloud environment.
• 5+ years developing cloud-native infrastructure software at a global scale.
• Experience building, managing, and running large-scale distributed databases and data systems in the cloud.
• Demonstrated experience in effectively influencing and working with executive teams through strong communication and collaborative techniques.
