Requirements

Strong expertise in government relations, public policy, or regulatory affairs, particularly in fintech or financial services
Proven track record of cultivating and maintaining high-level, trusted relationships with government officials, financial regulators, central banks, and legislative bodies
Ability to act as a primary conduit for regulatory and political intelligence, analyzing emerging policy trends and top-of-mind issues
Experience developing and executing comprehensive government affairs strategies to advocate for business interests and shape policy dialogues
Capability to represent the company in industry associations, public consultations, key forums, and direct engagements
Founder-like energy, strong role-related expertise, sharp thinking, humility, collaboration, and ability to move fast with good judgment
Motivation by Airwallex’s mission, operating principles, curiosity, first-principles decision-making, and use of AI to solve problems

Responsibilities

Cultivate and maintain high-level, trusted relationships with government officials, financial regulators, central banks, and legislative bodies across Airwallex’s priority markets
Act as the primary conduit for regulatory and political intelligence, providing senior leadership with a direct view into regulators’ priorities, identifying emerging policy trends, and analyzing top-of-mind issues to proactively manage and mitigate political and policy risk
Develop and execute comprehensive government affairs strategies to advocate for Airwallex’s interests, proactively shaping policy and regulatory dialogues, representing the company’s position in key forums, public consultations, and direct engagements
Represent Airwallex in industry associations and public consultations to advocate for the company’s policy positions and build its profile
Work closely with internal teams (description cuts off, but implied collaboration across business areas)
Build and execute a comprehensive government relations and public policy strategy across priority markets ex-China as the first dedicated global leader
Provide senior leadership with direct insight into regulatory priorities and emerging policy trends
Proactively advocate for Airwallex’s interests and foster a favorable environment for fintech innovation
Report directly to the Chief Legal, Risk & Compliance Officer (CLRCO), with potential to build a team
