Leadership experience in managing global teams of data scientists, engineers, and algorithm specialists (12+ members, including full-time, contractors, and offshore in Europe and US)
Expertise in AI, algorithms, and intelligent architecture for diagnostics platforms, particularly in infectious diseases
Strategic vision for AI innovation, roadmaps, and R&D alignment with business goals
Ability to hire strategically, build competencies, and manage offshore partnerships for cost optimization
Cross-functional collaboration skills within R&D, across divisions, and with external partners
Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and emerging risks for AI solutions
Experience driving software projects, product architecture, and high-performance assays

Responsibilities

Lead a global organization of 12+ data scientists, engineers, and algorithm specialists responsible for algorithm development, AI projects, and product architecture supporting advanced AI solutions
Create the vision and strategic direction of the organization, ensuring alignment with ID BU's purpose, behaviors, and mission
Drive cost optimization by leveraging offshore engineers and owning relationships with offshore partners
Build and grow organizational competencies to meet near-term and long-range roadmaps, including strategic hiring
Define and lead the AI Innovation strategy, roadmap, and R&D team to develop leading-edge products and solutions
Leverage latest AI advancements for tools and solutions that enhance efficiency, optimize projects, and deliver R&D budget savings
Lead AI projects including AI-generated documentation, bioinformatics solutions, large data analytics to accelerate timelines and improve execution
Define architectures to enable AI capabilities for diagnostics platforms
Develop customer-facing AI solutions to drive new revenue streams for ID BU
Leverage ID AI solutions to impact all parts of Abbott and lead AI adoption enterprise-wide
Ensure robust cybersecurity framework for all AI solutions, understanding risks and contributing to designs/standards
Drive long-term organizational effectiveness as a high-achieving, multi-disciplined team that executes projects, overcomes obstacles, and meets deadlines
Own and drive major software projects tied to corporate initiatives
