Manager, Direct I/O (Freelance)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Manager, Direct I/O to support media planning and activation across digital direct IO buying and traditional publisher media. This role will work closely with Senior Managers and Programmatic counterparts to ensure integrated display and video media strategies are executed effectively. The Manager will serve as a key point of contact for various media channels, including Linear, OOH, Audio, and Digital Direct, and will be responsible for assisting with planning, activation, and measurement, bringing a strong, executional focus to drive results.

This is a 1099 freelance role requiring approximately 20 hours per week, with an expected engagement duration of six months, potentially extending to full-time based on business needs and performance.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of directly related experience in media planning or buying.
  • Foundational knowledge of digital direct IO buying and traditional media planning, buying, and reporting.
  • Full-funnel marketing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Eagerness to grow a career in media.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution of planning for always-on, seasonal, and ad hoc campaigns across direct partner media, including digital direct IO buys.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the client’s business, marketing objectives, and KPIs.
  • Support integrated media strategy leads to ensure the Direct media program aligns with the overarching strategy.
  • Help manage the RFP process for traditional media and IO negotiations for digital direct, from identifying partners to finalizing recommendations.
  • Contribute to improving operational efficiencies within the team across planning, activation, reporting, and ad ops, with a focus on streamlining digital direct IO processes.
  • Support negotiations for program inclusions, rates, and terms with partners across both traditional and digital direct.
  • Identify opportunities to expand partnerships and provide added value and cost efficiencies to programs, including exploring new digital direct opportunities.
  • Assist in bringing new opportunities to clients across publisher, data, and measurement partnerships to drive innovation, especially within the digital direct landscape.
  • Support the implementation of advanced measurement techniques across partners, including those specific to digital direct campaigns.
  • Partner with Programmatic leads for holistic Display/Video strategy.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Salary: $30.00/hr - $40.00/hr (based on experience and other factors)
  • Employment Type: Freelance (1099)
  • Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week
  • Duration: Expected through January (6 months), with potential for full-time conversion.
  • Location Type: Remote (may be performed remotely in most U.S. states, with some exclusions)
