Technical Support Engineer

Salary: $50,000 USD per year Employment Type: Full-Time Location Type: Remote Schedule: Permanent, Weekend Role (4-day 10-hour shifts, 7 am - 5 pm IST Friday-Monday)

Position Overview

TigerData, formerly Timescale, is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our growing, international team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing deep technical support and engaging with customers daily. You should possess extensive experience with relational databases, with PostgreSQL being a strong plus, and be able to rapidly acquire a detailed understanding of TimescaleDB. A "can-do" attitude, prioritizing user assistance, is essential. TigerData is a remote-first organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers on a wide range of topics, including basic administration of TimescaleDB and in-depth consultative conversations regarding design, optimization, and implementation.
  • Manage support cases from initiation to resolution.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure their success.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, a continuous learning mindset, and a proactive approach to improving products, processes, and culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with relational databases at scale, including administration, data modeling, and query optimization.
  • Experience with relational databases, with PostgreSQL being a strong plus.
  • Proven experience as a technical support professional interacting with external customers.
  • Strong aptitude for understanding and learning new software products.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating patience and empathy when explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Other Helpful Qualifications

  • Familiarity with TimescaleDB is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with broad cloud computing concepts and experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Experience with Relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including best practices, Query Plan analysis, backup/restore, and migrations.
  • A strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to explore the unknown and learn through experience.
