Requirements

  • Experience with SQL Server administration across all editions (2014, 2016 and above), including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in monitoring database performance, tuning queries, indexes, and optimizing execution plans
  • Knowledge of multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Cloud SQL PaaS, including database migrations (homogeneous and heterogeneous), replication, DR solutions, and cross-cloud failover
  • Skills in automation and scripting using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep, ARM, Terraform, Ansible, Shell, Python
  • Ability to implement CI/CD pipelines, AIOps practices for proactive issue detection, anomaly detection, and predictive alerting
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning, patching, upgrades, and ensuring security compliance
  • Capability to provide 24x7 production support with on-call rotation, handling incidents, requests, and changes
  • Collaboration skills with SMEs, application teams, Cloud Infrastructure, and Self-Service Enabling teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administration, monitoring, and support for mission-critical SQL Server environments across on-prem and Cloud SQL PaaS
  • Manage database performance tuning, backup/recovery, patching, upgrades, availability, resiliency, and security compliance
  • Handle database incidents, requests, changes, and provide 24x7 production support with on-call rotation
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Microsoft SQL Server (2014 and above all editions)
  • Troubleshoot database issues, errors, performance bottlenecks, and work with application teams on server/database creations, maintenance jobs, and CDC configuration
  • Support SQL Server migrations to various cloud platforms, including replication, DR solutions, and failover planning
  • Develop and maintain scripts, pipelines, and IaC to automate routine database tasks
  • Implement AIOps for observability, reliability, proactive incident prevention, anomaly detection, and predictive alerting
  • Collaborate with SMEs, Cloud Infrastructure, and Self-Service teams to enhance automation and database operations
  • Ensure compliance with security standards through vulnerability scanning, timely patching, and upgrades
  • Improve service qualification and database lifecycle management through enterprise-scale automation
