Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field, or have equivalent work experience. They must be detail-oriented, self-directed, and capable of producing high-quality documentation. Required experience includes multiple years with a major RDBMS (Oracle/SQL Server), preferably Microsoft products, several database migrations from different platforms to Azure, moderate experience with OS clustering, understanding of database security implementation, advanced experience with HA/DR technologies like Always On AG, Replication, Log shipping, and Mirroring, advanced experience with database objects/stored procedures, and advanced experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting. A strong understanding of Cloud Infrastructure solutions and IaC implementation (Bicep or Terraform) is also necessary, along with a strong OS background for migration assessments and implementations, and Azure experience.
The Database Administrator will manage database migrations, High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions, SQL and Windows Clustering, monitoring, backup/recovery, and performance tuning for multiple customers. They will manage multiple long-term Azure data services projects concurrently, scope, plan, implement, and document solutions, and provide cost-effective Azure platforms. Responsibilities also include working with Development, Test, and Production environments, assisting with security definitions and roles, managing client expectations regarding scope, cost, and timeline, authoring high-quality project documentation, mentoring junior teammates, delivering complex projects on time and within budget, expanding knowledge in various tools and technologies, fostering a problem-solving culture, supporting internal data services design, and assisting the Sales Team with presales efforts when possible.
