Staff Machine Learning Engineer (Referrals)
CoinbaseFull Time
Expert & Leadership (9+ years)
Candidates must have 3-5+ years of experience building and deploying ML or deep learning models in production, with strong Python skills and fluency in ML libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face. A deep understanding of ML algorithms, NLP, modern data processing workflows, and the ability to design experiments, evaluate models rigorously, and iterate quickly are essential. Comfort working autonomously in ambiguous, fast-changing environments and excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences are also required. A graduate degree in a quantitative field is preferred, as is experience with healthcare, insurance, or compliance data, cloud platforms like AWS/GCP, production ML workflows, LLMs, GenAI, and related tools.
The Data Scientist will lead the design, prototyping, and deployment of models for document processing, LLM automation, risk prediction, and compliance inference, applying foundation models, deep learning, and generative AI to healthcare data. They will design retrieval + LLM pipelines, scale intelligent document intake, and develop/manage data pipelines using structured and semi-structured data. Responsibilities also include analyzing large-scale customer data for insights, surfacing anomalies and inefficiencies, and interfacing with customers and stakeholders to understand use cases. The role involves sharing learnings through memos and blogs, championing reproducibility and model governance, mentoring engineers, establishing ML tooling and processes, and aligning ML strategy with business objectives.
Digital solutions for insurance claims processing
Assured.Claims provides digital solutions specifically for Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance carriers, focusing on enhancing the claims process. Their platform allows insurers to manage claims digitally, utilizing a combination of artificial intelligence and human interaction to facilitate effective communication with all parties involved. A key feature of their service is the First Notice of Loss (FNOL) web app, which helps insurers collect structured data at the beginning of a claim, leading to improved customer experiences and faster claim resolutions. Assured.Claims differentiates itself by offering a white-label solution, enabling insurers to implement their technology under their own brand without needing to develop it themselves. The company's goal is to streamline the claims process for insurers, ultimately improving efficiency and accuracy in claims handling.
