Requirements

Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research, Economics, or Electrical Engineering, and a minimum of two to four years of professional experience building models with large data sets. Proficiency in SQL or other data querying languages is required, along with a strong understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques, including classification, regression, clustering, feature engineering, decision trees, gradient boosting, and deep learning. Experience with data science toolkits like R, Python, TensorFlow, SQL, Scikit-learn, Keras, and other relevant technologies is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Data Scientist will utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to develop models that address business needs and comply with regulatory requirements, working with large and complex data sets and establishing a comprehensive knowledge of Auto-Owners data structures and metrics. They will conduct ad-hoc analysis, present results clearly to stakeholders through visual displays, design and implement new approaches to problem-solving, collaborate with cross-functional teams, create model documentation, and monitor model performance while implementing iterative improvements.
