Employment Type: Full-time

Location Type: Fully Remote

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000

Position Overview

The Data Management Analyst will support the Data & Analytics Manager in the management of electronic research data systems and contribute to the overall quality and integrity of clinical research data across multiple multi-site studies within the Military Health System (MHS). This role has a strong emphasis on clinical data management, including database development (primarily in REDCap), data quality control, and data governance. The analyst will also contribute to data analysis and reporting, including building PowerBI dashboards and formatting statistical output for reports, publications, and presentations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, and bring strong experience in REDCap, data quality processes, and a working knowledge of data analysis tools such as R, SPSS, or SAS.

This is a fully remote position supporting the MIRROR program at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive government background check to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salaries and hourly pay rates are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of data management and analysis plans for multi-site clinical studies.
  • Build and maintain REDCap databases, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data integrity across studies.
  • Perform data quality control (QC), including data cleaning, validation, and implementing automated checks where possible.
  • Develop and maintain PowerBI dashboards to communicate study progress, data quality metrics, and key performance indicators.
  • Generate publication-ready tables, figures, and other outputs for reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
  • Assist with basic descriptive and exploratory data analyses as needed, using R, SPSS, or similar tools.
  • Manage study metadata, data dictionaries, and documentation to support transparency and reproducibility.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), best practices, and data governance initiatives.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to optimize data workflows and enhance data quality.
  • Respond to data requests and reporting needs from study teams, investigators, and leadership.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and cross-functional collaborations.
  • Complete other projects and duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., biostatistics, data science, epidemiology, public health, health informatics) or equivalent work experience required.
  • 4–6 years of experience in clinical data management and data quality control, preferably within multi-site clinical trials or healthcare research.
  • Strong experience with electronic data capture (EDC) systems — REDCap preferred — including database design, maintenance, user management, and data import/export.
  • Demonstrated experience in data quality control processes, including data cleaning, validation, and standardization.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles, regulatory requirements, and best practices in research data management.
  • Experience building dashboards and data visualizations to support reporting and decision-making (PowerBI or Tableau preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite; familiarity with Microsoft Access and VBA macros a plus.
  • Ability to generate publication-ready tables, figures, and outputs for reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
  • Experience with basic data analysis using R, SPSS, or similar tools is desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge of randomized controlled trial (RCT) design and clinical research methodology is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and organizational ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and findings clearly.
