Candidates should possess a Master's degree in Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field, and demonstrate at least 10 years of experience in curatorial work, specifically within painting and sculpture, with a strong understanding of modern and contemporary art. Proven expertise in collection management, exhibition development, and scholarly research is essential, along with the ability to manage budgets and oversee staff.
The Curator and Head of Painting and Sculpture will oversee the collections and programs of the Department of Painting and Sculpture, directing the exhibition and care of the Museum’s collection and the Doris and Donald Fisher Collection. They will develop collection plans, cultivate donations, and negotiate purchases of works of art, collaborating with other departments to expand the collection’s depth and breadth. This role involves originating and directing special exhibitions, organizing publications, and supervising exhibition presentations, as well as managing the Painting and Sculpture Accessions Committee and representing the Museum in various forums.
