The Motley Fool Money team rates and reviews critical financial products, cutting through the noise to help individuals make informed decisions. Our compliance team is essential for ensuring all published content is accurate, up-to-date, and adheres to regulatory standards and partner requirements, focusing on preventing risk through process improvement.

Role Responsibilities

In this role, you will partner closely with the Head of Compliance to manage the daily operations of our compliance program, often taking the lead. You will collaborate with editorial, legal, paid media, and tech teams to ensure content and product coverage, particularly for credit cards, is accurate, compliant, and responsive to industry changes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively mitigating compliance risks through automated and manual content reviews.
  • Working with affiliate partners on product updates and launches to ensure content meets regulatory requirements.
  • Owning day-to-day content reviews, including identifying, investigating, and resolving compliance issues efficiently.
  • Collaborating with editorial and SEO teams to establish and promote compliance best practices.
  • Liaising with affiliate partners to ensure content accurately reflects current product terms.
  • Partnering with legal to interpret contract language and apply it to editorial challenges.
  • Helping to define and scale new systems for more proactive and efficient compliance.
  • Monitoring ongoing product updates across verticals, prioritizing high-risk and high-revenue areas.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • 4+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, preferably in a fast-paced, content-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to manage the day-to-day implementation of compliance programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Exceptional organization, responsiveness, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset with the ability to anticipate roadblocks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex requirements to various teams.
  • The ability to make sound judgment calls under pressure and balance risk appropriately.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments and building structure as you go.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a drive for continuous learning, staying updated on regulatory shifts and industry trends.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Direct experience in compliance and risk management within the personal finance affiliate space.
  • Familiarity with tools that automate compliance processes.
  • Experience with digital publishing tools such as site scrapers, Google Analytics, Tableau, and CMS platforms like WordPress and Wagtail.
