Requirements

Complete understanding of log loading/handling equipment including Wagner (one-bite) log loader, Volvo wheel loader, crane, chipper, and on-site forklifts
Working knowledge of log yard layout, proper log sorting, log grading, green chain, and lumber package storage
At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
At least 1 year experience operating earth-moving, crane, or other heavy equipment for moving material, loading, or unloading
Strong verbal communication skills
Be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance
Be able to bend and squat while performing duties
Be comfortable climbing ladders, conveyors, working at heights, and on steel grating up to 100 ft
Stay in seated position at approximate 30-degree angle for long periods (up to four hours) without a break
Ability to be bounced around by crane vibration
Must be able to climb ladders and work from high elevations
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
3-5 years' experience operating earth-moving, crane, or other heavy equipment for moving material, loading, or unloading
At least 1 year of experience inspecting material moving equipment, crane operation in construction, manufacturing, or repair settings, performing safety inspections
OSHA 10 General Industry Certification and ability to pass Enviva-generated hazard recognition test
High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

Load and unload bundles from trucks using portal crane
Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms and lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions and damage
Move levers (with both hands), depress foot pedals (with both feet), and turn dials to operate crane or other moving equipment for lifting, moving, and placing loads
Monitor logs being fed into the debarker drum and notify chipper operator of any problems (e.g., hung up logs, jams)
Escalate visual issues and remove eject in-feed logs for embedded rocks or other saw-damaging debris
Lubricate crane parts in adherence with manufacturer and company recommendations
Maintain contact with Area Mill Manager and coworkers
General housekeeping during downtime including shoveling, sweeping, and hosing to clean area
Adhere to all plant environmental, health, and safety guidelines, policies, and practices
