About the Role

As Corporate Security Operations Manager in APAC, you will set the strategic direction and lead the execution of physical security operations across APAC and collaborate closely with the EMEA and Global teams. This role supports all areas of CorpSec, including Resilience, which encompasses crisis management, events, training, and travel, as well as Executive Protection, Technology, International Operations, and Protective Intelligence.

You will build strong relationships across the company and with external partners, lead global vendor relationships, and ensure security operations align with OpenAI’s mission and culture. You will oversee a range of security services and infrastructure, build standards and systems that scale, and create safe, secure environments where OpenAI employees can do their best work.

Responsibilities

  • Setting strategic and operational direction for physical security programs across OpenAI’s APAC offices.
  • Ability to translate intelligence methodologies into corporate risk mitigation strategies- particularly around executive travel, IP protection, site security and third party/vendor vetting.
  • Creating and maintaining access control policies, physical security standards, and procedures that foster safety and trust.
  • Leading emergency preparedness and response programs with a focus on predictability and employee care.
  • Consulting on physical security planning for new office builds and expansions.
  • Managing security initiatives in partnership with Security and Real Estate and Workplace teams.
  • Implementing solutions to address employee security concerns and requests with empathy and responsiveness.
  • Leading and mentoring CorpSec team members to support their growth and performance.
  • Cultural understanding on what security should look and feel like in APAC offices.
  • Understanding of the threat landscape in APAC, in particular broader risks such as terrorism & serious crime.

We’re Looking For Someone With

  • Experience: 15–20 years of corporate security and/or law enforcement experience.
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading physical security programs in fast-paced environments.
  • Advisory Skills: Experience advising senior and executive leadership.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of access control, guard force management, security operations centers, and workplace safety standards.
  • Vendor Management: Experience managing vendors, budgets, and contracts with a focus on service delivery and measurable performance.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Adaptability: Comfort operating in ambiguity and building scalable systems from the ground up.
  • Tools Familiarity: Familiarity with tools including emergency notification systems, and travel risk intelligence platforms.
  • Ethics: A strong ethical foundation and a commitment to OpenAI’s mission and values.

Location and Travel

  • This role is based in Singapore.
  • Regular travel to OpenAI’s office in Tokyo and other APAC locations is expected.
  • Travel outside the region to support CorpSec pillars may be required as needed.
