Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a healthcare/laboratory environment
5+ years of experience in reference laboratories required, with 2 years of leadership experience preferred
Experience in a clinical laboratory setting with comprehensive knowledge of high throughput hematology, chemistry, immunoassay, urinalysis, O&P/fecal and related analyzers/diagnostics
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) from an accredited organization (e.g., ASCP, AMT) preferred
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of accuracy
Demonstrated ability to build, develop and work within a clinical laboratory team, including creative problem-solving and flexibility to meet rapid growth
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, internet, office/fax machines
Advanced proficiency with multiple Laboratory Information Systems

Responsibilities
Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of laboratory technicians and technologists analyzing veterinary patient samples
Monitor and evaluate staff performance, provide feedback, and conduct regular performance appraisals
Ensure adequate training and development opportunities for staff to maintain proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation
Promote a collaborative and supportive work environment
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the chemistry laboratory, ensuring smooth workflows and adherence to turnaround time expectations
Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures
Manage inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely replenishment
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hematology testing equipment and procedures
Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards
Implement and maintain quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs to ensure accurate, reliable, and precise test results
Ensure laboratory practices comply with applicable regulatory agencies, including CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and HIPAA
Review and analyze test results for accuracy and make adjustments as necessary
Lead investigations and root cause analysis for any deviations or non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are taken
Ensure proper preparation, processing, and analysis of chemical, biological, and physical tests of laboratory samples
Oversee the timely and accurate generation of test results and assist in complex cases as needed
Collaborate with pathologists and other clinical staff to interpret and communicate lab results
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and proper handling of hazardous materials
Monitor adherence to infection control and safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment for staff and patients
Participate in laboratory inspections and audits to ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations
