Requirements

  • Experience in legal contract review and customer negotiations
  • Completed bachelor's degree relevant to contract law, finance and/or business administration (Juris Doctor preferred but not required) with a minimum of 6-years Contracting experience
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a strong team player
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to overall success of Elsevier
  • Possess strong computer, analytical and organizational skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of the Healthcare industry is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with CRM and financial systems, Siebel, and Salesforce is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads complex contract drafting, negotiations and discussions, contract management activities, etc
  • Ensures contract terms comply with company policies, legal requirements, sales requirements, and customer specifications
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment in taking calculated risks when making decisions, along with strong analytical skills
  • Translates organizational and client business needs into contracts structure
  • Works closely with internal business owners, legal, and sales teams, to draft, review, edit, and analyze terms and conditions for use within contract templates and negotiation toolkits
  • Serves as point of escalation across internal stakeholders for contract issues and questions
  • Identifies, manages, coordinates, and collaborates internally on department projects to continuously improve the efficiency of contracting and order entry processes, including automation initiatives
  • Supports the selection and on-boarding of new staff through candidate reviews and the interview process
  • Assists with proposal development and responses
  • Other duties as assigned
