Requirements

Candidates should have 2+ years of experience writing or editing content for search, preferably in a full-time role, expertise with SEO best practices and tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs, a proven track record of working independently and meeting deadlines, familiarity with a Content Management System (CMS) (Sanity, Contentful, Wordpress), and experience using project management tools like Airtable and Notion.

Responsibilities

The Content Writer will write and edit 3-4 pages a week about benefits programs like SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, and Summer EBT, meeting deadlines, ensuring content meets Propel’s standards for accuracy, voice, and clarity, understanding and implementing SEO best practices, reporting on content performance metrics, collaborating with internal and external policy experts to fact-check content, becoming a subject-matter expert around core verticals, planning successful updates of existing pages, identifying content gaps and pitching new page ideas, reviewing and editing freelancers’ work, and partnering with brand, acquisition and LCM to repurpose content for different mediums and audiences.
