Responsibilities

  • Independently underwrite and price the most complex and specialized commercial risks within expanded authority levels, promoting profitable growth and steady flow of lower-premium new business
  • Perform in-depth risk analysis using financials, loss control reports, industry trends, and predictive data models
  • Provide consultative guidance to field underwriters and agents on risk mitigation and coverage solutions
  • Manage a field underwriting territory focused on new business production, aligning with underwriting strategy, business mix, and profitability goals; identify trends and recommend adjustments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key agency partners; conduct regular in-person meetings and embed/quote within agency offices
  • Provide expert-level support in complex negotiations and coverage discussions; participate with Territory Managers in strategic planning with agencies
  • Identify and drive opportunities for business development, issue resolution, consolidation, or transfer by consulting with agents and internal partners
  • Monitor market developments, emerging risks, and competitor activity; contribute feedback to influence underwriting guidelines, tools, and practices
  • Serve as technical resource and informal mentor to field underwriters; share best practices and support skill development
  • Partner with Territory Managers and Learning & Development to conduct product orientation and training sessions; provide feedback on product performance and market fit
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned
