The Motley Fool is a purpose-driven financial services company dedicated to making the world smarter, happier, and richer. For 30 years, we have empowered individuals to make better investment decisions through transparency, education, and a touch of Foolish fun. We foster a fast-moving, collaborative environment that values high-quality work, curiosity, and initiative, driven by the impact we have on people's financial futures.

The Motley Fool Money team focuses on rating and reviewing essential financial products like credit cards, mortgages, brokers, banking accounts, insurance, and personal loans. We aim to cut through the noise of often misleading advice, helping people navigate critical financial decisions with confidence.

As our content and product offerings expand, the compliance team plays a vital role in ensuring all published material is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory standards and partner requirements. This involves not only correcting content but also developing processes to proactively mitigate risks.

Role Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Compliance to manage the daily operations of our compliance program, often taking the lead. You will partner with editorial, legal, paid media, and tech teams to ensure our content and product coverage is accurate, compliant, and responsive to industry changes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively mitigating compliance risks through automated and manual content reviews.
  • Working with affiliate partners on product updates and launches to ensure content meets regulatory requirements and remains current.
  • Owning day-to-day content reviews, identifying, investigating, and resolving compliance issues with speed and precision.
  • Collaborating with editorial and SEO teams to establish and promote compliance best practices.
  • Liaising with affiliate partners to ensure content accurately reflects current product terms.
  • Partnering with legal to interpret contract language and apply it to editorial challenges.
  • Assisting in defining and scaling new systems to enhance compliance efficiency and proactivity.
  • Monitoring ongoing product updates across our verticals, prioritizing areas with the highest risk and revenue.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 4+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, preferably in a fast-paced, content-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to manage the day-to-day implementation of compliance programs and identify opportunities for improvement and streamlining.
  • Exceptional organization, responsiveness, and a meticulous attention to detail.
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and take initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex requirements to cross-functional partners.
  • The capacity to make sound judgment calls under pressure and effectively balance risk.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous situations and building structure as needed.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a strong desire for continuous learning, staying updated on regulatory shifts, industry trends, and new tools.

Preferred Qualifications

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Direct experience in compliance and risk management within the personal finance affiliate space.
  • Familiarity with third-party tools for compliance automation.
  • Experience with digital publishing tools such as site scrapers, Google Analytics, Tableau, and content management systems like WordPress and Wagtail.
  • Exposure to any of the following: [Information not provided]
