Requirements
- Understand the effects of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of clients' lives to support a Trauma Informed Care environment
- Apply knowledge of accepted treatment practices
- Assess client behavior and diagnose mental health disorders
- Complete Strengths Assessments covering six life domains: independent living, vocational/educational, financial/insurance, social supports, health, and leisure/recreational
- Work with a caseload of approximately twenty adults with mental illnesses, often not successfully served in traditional clinic-based systems
- Support a Strengths Based philosophical framework and emerging Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) approach
Responsibilities
- Complete and implement mental health assessments and Individual Service Plans
- Implement treatment plans, evaluate their effectiveness, and recommend alternate strategies as necessary
- Use the Strengths Assessment to set initial long-term goals and develop the Individualized Support and Services Plan
- Guide clients in setting their own goals and identifying realistic steps to achieve them
- Utilize naturally occurring resources to assist clients in achieving goals, exploring formal mental health services only when no natural resources are available or accessible
- Provide strengths-based counseling focused on minimizing illness and maximizing client strengths
- Document and maintain electronic health records
