Requirements

  • Basic computer skills for inputting data regarding dissection data via tablet
  • Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience preferred
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
  • Willing to work Monday through Friday, rotating weekends, including holidays; hours 5:35am – 1:35pm (schedule subject to change)
  • Willing to shower, change clothing and footwear before entering the biosecure facility; no jewelry except medical ID, body piercings covered
  • Willing to sign agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Willing to sign and abide by Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and perform house checklist in Feed Conversion Houses and Brood Feed Conversion Houses: weigh chickens into/out of cages; record and add feed; collect data with pen/paper, computer or tablet; check bird heart rate and blood oxygen with pulse-oximeter; dispose of dead birds; feed birds per schedule; clean/disinfect equipment; house set-up; routine housekeeping; segregate birds by line/sex; remove/place birds in cages; examine birds for illness and report issues; monitor temperature/humidity controls/thermostats; perform simple math for recording (weight, feed, mortality); repair/align/construct cages, pens, equipment (50%)
  • Collect data in Dissection Laboratory: euthanize birds; dissect birds with scalpel per protocols; score defects in physiology; use caliper for data; enter weights/defects into tablet/computer; dispose of dissected birds in incinerators (40%)
  • Other duties: collect swab samples; clean/disinfect/haul coops; maintain foot bath, hand sanitizer, hydro-foamer; sweep/mop/general cleaning; euthanize weak/ill birds per company policy (10%)
