Requirements

  • Must currently have and consistently maintain 4 attendance points or less
  • Willing to shower, change clothing and footwear before entering the bio-secure facility
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear provided; no jewelry except medical ID, body piercings covered
  • Willing to sign agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Willing to sign and abide by Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Use safe lifting techniques; regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds (egg flats, supplies, bags of shavings); occasionally up to 30 pounds (feed, shavings)
  • Regularly stand and walk majority of shift on multiple surfaces

Responsibilities

  • Administrative duties as assigned by Farm Manager (25%)
  • Spend time in laying houses daily to ensure Laying Caretakers are properly trained and executing good management practices for flock performance and egg quality (25%)
  • Supervise and assist with: feeding/watering birds per schedules; walking houses daily; removing mortality; recording bird weight, eggs produced, feed intake, and mortality (10%)
  • Collect bird and environmental samples and assist in shipping/transporting to lab
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties and ensure outside farm appearance meets Farm Manager’s expectations (15%)
  • Assist with cleaning and disinfecting houses to prepare for birds (5%)
  • Other duties: assist with laying caretakers' duties; sanitize equipment/vehicles; euthanize weak/ill birds per policy; drive company vehicle for repairs/parts/supplies; assist with scheduling absent team members; run feed to houses; assist Farm Manager with training all team members (20%)
