Requirements

  • Must reside in the United States
  • Preferred: previous agricultural or production experience
  • Willing to undergo background check if required
  • Willing to work Monday through Friday, including holidays, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., averaging 40 hours per week (schedule subject to change)
  • Comply with biosecurity requirements: shower on-site, change clothing/footwear (provided by company), no jewelry except medical ID, cover body piercings, sign agreement to avoid avian species, abide by biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines
  • Physically capable: stand majority of shift on multiple surfaces (concrete, shavings), walk, sit, use hands, reach, balance, stoop/bend repeatedly, climb ladders, talk/hear, drive vehicle on farm; vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, adjust focus); safe lifting techniques, occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds with two team members (e.g., bird coops)
  • Work in wet, slippery, hot, dry, dusty, wet environments

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples from pedigree birds using needle/syringe/lancet to monitor health and diseases (30%)
  • Clean, sanitize blood testing instruments, and prepare sampling equipment for next use (10%)
  • Record information according to instructions for sampling of pedigree birds (30%)
  • Other duties as assigned: move birds, wash/disinfect vehicles, euthanize weak/ill/injured birds per company policy, farm out to other areas during downtime, travel to farms for training or projects (30%)
