Requirements

  • Master of CNC lathe equipment including Okuma, Doosan, Takisawa, Citizen, Swiss, and New Britain machines
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on CNC lathe setup and machining experience in a high-precision aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in MasterCAM and FANUC controls; strong CNC programming and troubleshooting skills
  • In-depth experience with machining stainless steel, Inconel, Titanium, and aluminum materials
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and quality inspection tools
  • Leadership experience with the ability to train, mentor, and motivate operators
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends when required

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Lathe Subject Matter Expert (SME) across CNC operations
  • Be a strong physical presence on the shop floor to support complex setups, troubleshoot issues in real time, and lead by example
  • Actively perform hands-on CNC lathe setup and machining, including tool setup, offsetting, program adjustments, and first article inspections
  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of CNC machinists while working side-by-side with the team on the shop floor
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine or process issues directly, minimizing downtime and scrap
  • Develop and optimize CNC lathe programs using MasterCAM or other software, including macro programming where applicable
  • Operate and demonstrate proper use of indexable tooling, offline presetters, and setup techniques for complex lathe platforms
  • Interpret and apply GD&T requirements from aerospace drawings; verify conformance using appropriate measuring tools
  • Support the production schedule by ensuring timely setups, quality outputs, and efficient throughput
  • Mentor and train operators in setup procedures, quality checks, and safety protocols
