Requirements
- Experience working with Kubernetes in production (CKA or equivalent experience)
- Strong background in software development, having led projects or workstreams
- Proficiency in Python, Go, NodeJS, Java or other languages
- Experienced with Terraform, CI/CD (ideally GitHub Actions), CDNs, and DevOps best practices
- Deep understanding of software architecture and design
- Interest in security best practices
- Experience building fault-tolerant systems or running applications at scale, ideally using AWS
- Enjoys pairing with engineers of all skill levels
- Good communication skills
Responsibilities
- Become a subject matter expert across the platform and help develop Cloud Engineering as a centre of excellence
- Focus on cost efficiency
- Provide monthly out-of-hours on-call support for the platforms
- Pair with application software engineering teams to advise on Terraform, deployments, architecture, and cost optimization
- Improve observability of applications using monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting solutions
- Raise the bar on all work and share best practices
- Help develop self-service solutions
- Run a global EKS platform used by hundreds of engineers for thousands of applications
- Provide a large-scale compute platform to serve global brand websites and deploy hundreds of applications
- Develop a self-service platform for app engineers to operate efficiently and upskill quickly
- Advise on and review application and infrastructure architecture
- Lead on deployment workflows and strategies
- Create Terraform modules for popular resources
- Improve security and resilience
- Provide global GitHub Actions workflows as part of self-service tooling
