Candidates must have at least 4 years of experience with Amazon EKS and Kubernetes, and at least 5 years of experience with AWS networking services including VPC, Security Groups, Network ACLs, Cloudfront, WAF, ALB, and DNS. Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or SRE with end-to-end platform ownership is required, along with strong practical experience with Karpenter, ArgoCD, and Terraform. Demonstrable experience with SSL/TLS certificate management and proficiency in programming languages like Python or Go for automation are necessary. Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack, excellent problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities are also required. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is needed. Prior experience with service mesh technologies like Istio in a production environment is preferred.
The Platform Engineer will manage and enhance the entire application delivery platform, from Cloudfront to EKS clusters and their components. Responsibilities include performing regular upgrades and patching of EKS clusters and associated components, managing and optimizing components like Karpenter and ArgoCD, and implementing and managing service mesh solutions. The role involves participating in an on-call rotation for 24/7 support, monitoring the platform for potential issues, and implementing preventative measures. Additionally, the engineer will develop, maintain, and automate in-house tools and scripts using Python or Go, configure and manage CloudFront distributions and WAF Policies, and develop and maintain documentation for platform architecture, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
