Requirements

  • Adherence to Research SOP’s, Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), study protocols, FDA guidelines, and regulatory standards
  • Compliance with principles of adequate human subject protection (HSP), patient safety, and confidentiality
  • Ability to perform clinical procedures including blood draws, phlebotomy, processing and shipping blood/urine specimens per IATA regulations, vital signs collection, ECGs, and dispensing study medication
  • Knowledge of informed consent processes, patient recruitment via chart reviews and interviews, and verifying inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Skills in scheduling patient visits/procedures, data verification, quality control, completing/maintaining case report forms, and ensuring data integrity
  • Capability to monitor patients, educate staff and patients on studies/disease processes, and act as a resource on investigational issues
  • Understanding of clinical trial coordination from initiation to completion, including planning, staffing, data collection/analysis systems, progress monitoring, and reporting

Responsibilities

  • Administratively and clinically manage industry-sponsored clinical trials
  • Assist in patient recruitment through detailed chart reviews and patient interviews
  • Discuss study protocols with patients and verify informed consent documentation
  • Review patient medical history against inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Perform blood draws, process and ship blood/urine specimens per protocol and IATA regulations
  • Schedule all patient research visits and procedures consistent with protocol requirements
  • Dispense study medication, collect vital signs, and perform ECGs
  • Assist with routine data verification, quality control, and maintaining case report forms per FDA guidelines
  • Function in a clinical role conducting research studies and monitoring patients for optimal outcomes
  • Develop written research study information/tools for staff education and patient recruitment
  • Maintain compliance with protocols and regulatory guidelines
  • Act as a resource for staff on investigational issues or guidelines
  • Coordinate availability and distribution of medications for patients
  • Perform phlebotomy and complete necessary forms as required
  • Educate patients on disease processes and clinical studies
  • Plan and coordinate initiation of research protocols, operating policies, and procedures
  • Assist principal investigator and research director with administrative tasks for study operations
  • Plan and coordinate staffing of research studies, including recruitment and administration of support staff
  • Plan, implement, and maintain data collection and analysis systems
  • Monitor progress of research activities, maintain records, and prepare periodic/ad hoc reports
  • Facilitate assigned clinical trials from start to finish
  • Screen participants for all studies
