Requirements

  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strong background in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Report required)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel overnight to active construction sites for one or two weeks at a time
  • Performs quality work within deadlines without direct supervision
  • Interacts professionally with other employees and customers
  • Works effectively as a leader on all assigned projects
  • Demonstrates integrity and ethics in all client relationships and communications
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor and teams regarding designs, concerns, studies or tests

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all engineering responsibilities and activities
  • Delegate engineering responsibilities and activities within the team
  • Lead the design and checking processes
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of schedule and design
  • Directly train and direct Civil Engineers (CEs) and Civil Engineering Technicians (CETs)
  • Maintain design standards and training guidelines
  • Coordinate and problem solve issues between design teams and departments
  • Answer technical questions from construction managers, field staff, customers, and their representatives
  • Recognize and recommend methods to improve customer experience
  • Travel periodically to customer offices for project meetings and to job sites for construction visits
  • Supervise multiple employees reporting to the position
  • Work with the VP of Civil Engineering to coordinate employee PTO scheduling
  • Work with the VP of Civil Engineering to recruit, hire, and train new engineers
  • Provide input on organizational structure, employee performance, continuing education, employee development, and disciplinary actions
  • Perform tasks as assigned by the Civil Engineer Manager
  • Supervise multiple Civil Engineers and Civil Engineering Technicians, overseeing design of structures, foundations, overhead wires, aluminum bus, equipment design, and site grading plans for electrical substations and transmission lines
  • Ensure team’s designs and applications comply with codes and standards set by authoritative bodies
  • Handle training, recruiting, hiring, scheduling, assigning, and discipline of CEs and CETs
