Requirements
- Meet state requirements to work as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
- Currently certified as a pharmacy technician on the PTCB website or NHA website
- Registered on the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy website
- Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement
- Proficiency in managing inventory
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills for maintaining records and creating reports
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Ability to move, lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Flexibility to work any day during the week between shift availability times, including holidays, training, and overtime
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies as prescribed by physicians
- Process prescriptions, including counting, bottling, packaging, labeling, and recording medication dosages
- Receive and process prescriptions, including entering prescription information into computer system and verifying accuracy
- Perform inventory control, including stocking and re-stocking medications and supplies, removing expired items, and reporting on inventory levels
- Answer phone calls, manage customer queries, and forward complex queries to the pharmacist
- Process insurance claims and manage payments
- Comply with all security measures and quality standards of pharmaceutical care
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment, including storing and disposing of medications and supplies properly
- Participate in training and development programs to improve skills and knowledge
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient care and pharmacy operations
