  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Active certification in the state of practice within 120 Days
  • Medication Aide - Active certification in the state of practice within 120 Days
  • Ability to work specified hours
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • 1-3 years Related experience or training (Preferred)
  • Minimum Age 18

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to residents with activities of daily living
  • Performs routine and non-routine duties as directed by nursing staff (bathing, dressing, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, toileting, serving food, encouraging feeding, answering call lights, maintaining a clean environment, transporting patients, assisting with ambulation, orienting residents)
  • Performs blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, and weight. Documents information on appropriate forms
  • Performs or assists residents in performing specific medical care activities (restorative exercises, collecting specimens). Assesses and documents completed cares
  • Provides feedback to nursing staff on patient conditions, pain management, and other concerns
  • Assists with restocking supplies and maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Participates in providing emotional, educational, and spiritual support for families
  • Complies with all aspects of resident rights, including confidentiality and privacy. Reports all allegations of resident abuse or misappropriation of resident property
  • Understanding and following established policy and procedures related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control procedures, and hazardous and chemical communication program
  • Mentors new employees and assists with their orientation
  • Serves as a lead example to help enforce Avera's CARE standards with co-workers
