Role Summary

Role: CAD Designer Location: Fremont, CA

We are seeking a talented and experienced CAD Designer to support the development of our vehicle. This role involves performing detailed CAD modeling, packaging, parts design, layouts, drawings, and plans for automotive components and systems. The successful candidate will be part of our engineering team, producing high-level and accurate design and CAD work that complies with project specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed CAD models, packaging studies, layouts, parts design, engineering, and drawings for vehicle components and systems based on project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Department, engineers, and designers to understand product definition, project specifications, and requirements.
  • Develop, revise, and update existing design work to reflect changes and improvements.
  • Ensure all design and engineering work complies with vehicle industry standards and company guidelines.
  • Conduct quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage and organize CAD files and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of prototypes and production processes, as needed.
  • Stay updated with the latest CAD software and technologies.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CAD Designer, Modeler, and/or CAD in the vehicle industry.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 (minimum requirement); CATIA V6 (3DEXP) is desired.
  • Strong understanding of design and engineering principles and technical drawing standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot design issues.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • A degree or certification in CAD design, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience and previous CAD/design activity with body, and/or structures, and/or interior effects, and/or exterior effects, and/or HVAC and cooling systems, and/or mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic systems for vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CATIA V6 and other CAD software and 3D modeling tools.
  • Knowledge and experience with automotive manufacturing and processes, specific automotive materials: metals (Aluminum, steel), composites, plastics and fiberglass, rubber and trim materials, joining technologies and processes, etc.
  • Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems is a plus.
