Requirements

  • High school graduation/General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare related field
  • Minimum of one year of medical billing and appeals experience required
  • Understanding of CMS1500 forms and electronic billing
  • Experience working on outstanding accounts receivable from aging reports
  • Prior experience working with CalOptima insurance is a plus
  • Possess time management and organization skills
  • Ability to apply problem-solving techniques to assigned duties
  • Advanced computer skills in business applications; High proficiency in Microsoft suite of products
  • Possess strong written and verbal skills with diverse populations; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must present a professional appearance and promote a positive work environment

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures
  • Maintains confidentiality of client, associate, and company operations
  • Processes and submits clean claims to our contracted insurance payers including managed Medicare and Medicaid payers
  • Responsible for payment posting with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Management of account receivable collections through targeted appeals and disputes when needed
  • Conducts periodic audits and eligibility checks to ensure the services we are providing will be properly covered by the payers
  • Ability to communicate audit results clearly to team members to effect change
  • Works closely with our internal teams for schedule coordination to adhere to authorization limitations
  • Performs other duties as requested
