Requirements

  • Board Certified in Psychiatry
  • Vermont state medical license
  • Proper credentialing, state licenses, and any special certifications required for the job
  • Ability to work as a 1099 independent contractor on a per-case basis

Responsibilities

  • Review all medical records and address each question posed by the client using client-specific criteria or nationally recognized evidence-based criteria
  • Ensure the rationale for determinations is clear, concise, and contains adequate supporting documentation
  • Identify, critique, and utilize current criteria and resources such as national, state, professional association guidelines, and peer-reviewed literature for objective decision-making; avoid using case studies or cohorts due to limited sample sizes
  • Provide copies of any criteria utilized in reviews with the report
  • Return cases on or before the due date and time
  • Make telephone calls as mandated by state and/or client specifics
  • Maintain proper credentialing and state licenses
  • Attend all required orientation and training
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including identifying and responding to quality assurance issues, complaints, regulatory issues, depositions, court appearances, or audits
