We are seeking a skilled Bengali linguist to serve as a backup Language Lead for a key account. This role involves stepping in to perform linguistic review and quality assurance tasks when the primary Bengali Language Lead is unavailable or when workload sharing is necessary. The ideal candidate will ensure all content adheres to expected standards and client-specific guidelines, acting as the primary reviewer in such instances. Availability during European (CET) business hours (9:00–17:00) is required to align with client delivery schedules.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in translating and reviewing content within Legal and Marketing subject matters.
- Proficiency in Legal and Marketing areas.
- Well-versed in various translation and terminology tools.
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written).
- Native fluency in Bengali.
- Degree in linguistics, translation, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to follow instructions, including character restrictions.
- Ability to effectively communicate the rationale behind translation choices.
- Capable of both translating and reviewing.
- Experience with machine translation post-editing.
- Experience working in a multi-vendor scenario is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Act as an intermediary between the client (and third-party reviewers) and Welocalize linguists.
- Maintain overall quality to meet a 97% fail rate target.
- Perform daily follow-up of all LQE results (passed and failed).
- Gather LQE changes and share them with all linguists on the account.
- Analyze linguist deliverables, identify issues, and implement improvement actions.
- Support teams in the review process to maintain the fail rate below 97%.
- Assist linguists in understanding corrections and clarify with the client when necessary.
- Support linguists in the arbitration process.
- Address linguist questions during production and escalate to the client/Welocalize as needed.
- Identify challenging products/content and underperforming linguists, making recommendations for reallocation.
- Highlight workload issues and propose solutions to the Welocalize Language Services team.
- Collect root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action plans, and develop improvement plans.
- Create training materials and conduct training sessions for linguists.
- Organize regular calls with reviewers/LS to discuss corrections, requirements, and clarify misunderstandings. Document these calls and ensure alignment.
- Support Welocalize in identifying and evaluating potential new candidates.
