Requirements

  • Basic understanding of client/patient treatment plans
  • Ability to monitor and document client/patient behavior
  • Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, signs/symptoms of withdrawal, and when to escalate to medical intervention
  • Appropriate training certifications/permissions for medication oversight/administration where applicable
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of medications and document self-administration or staff administration
  • Knowledge of agency medication policies, storage, destruction, and reporting errors/discrepancies
  • Ability to facilitate supervision checks per policy/procedure
  • For Illinois: Ability to serve in on-call for shift coverage
  • Ability to provide safe, therapeutic, supportive environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and supportive care to clients/patients, including general oversight of day-to-day activities and redirection
  • Monitor health (vital signs), intervene/respond to crises, and communicate with treatment team
  • Facilitate group education/structured activities and transport clients/patients as needed
  • Admit, supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge clients/patients
  • Obtain and record vital signs and relevant medical symptoms per policy or as indicated
  • Oversee medication administration per policy/procedure, adhere to all medication policies, and work with nursing staff
  • Monitor client self-administration of OTC medications, inventory, and storage
  • Document client’s reported blood glucose levels and maintain equipment per guidelines
  • Report medication errors/discrepancies per policy
  • Follow Medication Storage and Destruction Policy & Procedure
  • Screen and monitor for signs/symptoms of withdrawal to ensure safety/recovery
  • Assist clients/patients with personal care (e.g., grooming, bathing, dressing) when needed (RCF)
