Candidates must possess a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or a related field, or equivalent experience, along with over 5 years of hands-on experience in designing and deploying complex, integrated systems with safety-critical components. Strong knowledge of embedded systems and integration is required, as is demonstrated experience with system documentation such as requirements, architecture, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs). The role also requires the ability to communicate technical issues and solutions effectively across all organizational levels, a hands-on approach suited for a fast-paced startup, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and strong organizational and analytical thinking abilities. Proximity to Atlanta and willingness to travel up to 25% are also necessary. Preferred qualifications include an MS in a related technical field, experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or ADAS, familiarity with tools like DOORS or Jama, experience with RTOS and networking protocols, knowledge of safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 21448), experience with aviation or robotics safety, familiarity with airside airport environments, and knowledge of cybersecurity and data science.
The AV System Architect will drive the definition, evolution, verification, and deployment of dependable, safety-critical systems for autonomous vehicle architecture in the airport driving environment. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to align on architecture and integration strategies, architecting solutions for scalability and usability, and overseeing end-to-end system integration to identify and resolve architectural issues. Responsibilities also include leading design reviews and trade-off analyses, translating stakeholder needs into system requirements, defining and monitoring KPIs for performance, supporting FMEA analyses and risk assessments, and mentoring engineers in system-level thinking and interface design.
