Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Optometry (OD) from accredited optometry school
  • Licensed optometrist in good standing in state of practice
  • EMR/EHR experience
  • Eagerness to embrace new equipment, technology, and advanced instrumentation (e.g., digital phoropters, EMR Maestro, OCT/retinal camera combo)
  • Experience in treating and managing ocular disease

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based vision care to ensure patients' health and wellbeing by recommending and prescribing medications and other treatment options (e.g., red eye, LASIK surgery, cataract surgery)
  • Deliver routine vision care using evidence-based care guidelines
  • Educate patients and store associates on eye health, including contact lens care, disease state management, and safety factors
  • Consult with other health professionals to prepare patient care plans, observing optometry scope of practice per state board
  • Manage Optical Operations: Stay current on changes in optical procedures, ideas, and processes; share information with associates and managers; ensure adherence to policies and procedures for advising on merchandise and filling prescriptions; align operations with company and regulatory standards for prescriptions, claims, doctor/optician certifications/licensure, and associate training
  • Guide associates and support managers on addressing customer and member concerns and merchandise defects
  • Meet with managers, doctors, and associates to identify/discuss concerns/issues related to the business and share information on new initiatives
  • Effectively recruit doctors in partnership with Market Directors
  • Create a culture of patient care safety and accuracy; communicate clear expectations on quality of care and patient safety; hold others accountable for SOPs and quality goals
  • Ensure counseling and provision of health service information occurs on new therapy/items as requested or required, with appropriate documentation
  • Analyze and identify areas of improvement; implement interventions to improve team knowledge, patient safety, and risk reduction; promote reporting and transparency of errors
  • Write timely and effective plans of action focused on root cause identification and correction
  • Create and foster an environment centered on healthcare compliance execution; communicate, train, and guide processes for compliance initiatives
  • Implement compliance initiatives and priorities; monitor compliance execution by others; ensure operational execution of billing procedures, HIPAA compliance, and standard operating procedures
