Candidates should have relevant experience in digital news journalism, including reporting, pitching, assigning stories, editing, and publishing. A strong understanding of media law and sound editorial judgment are essential. The role requires the ability to produce and edit content under tight deadlines, strong organization and planning skills, and proficiency with digital publishing tools, content management systems, and editing software. Familiarity with standard IT tools like Microsoft Office and Teams is necessary, along with a willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
The Associate News Editor will produce, edit, and publish multiple AI-assisted stories daily, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrity. They will apply editorial judgment to AI-generated content, continuously learn and implement new AI technologies, and respond quickly to breaking news. Responsibilities include monitoring sources for emerging stories, pitching original ideas, and collaborating with the US News Editor and editorial team on coverage plans. The role also involves performing other reasonable editorial duties as required.
