Associate Patient Billing Analyst - Contract

Position Overview

Natera is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Associate Patient Billing Analyst to join our Patient Experience Billing team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing strategies to optimize and improve the patient billing process. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, ensure compliance, and enhance the overall patient experience. This role is essential for improving revenue cycle performance and streamlining billing procedures within our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Review & Gap Analysis: Lead end-to-end assessments of current patient billing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement. Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables aligned with operational goals.
  • Workflow Optimization Initiatives: Manage the planning and execution of billing process improvement projects. Develop and implement streamlined workflows to reduce errors, accelerate payment cycles, and improve revenue cycle outcomes.
  • Patient-Focused Improvements: Design and manage initiatives aimed at enhancing patient comprehension of billing statements and payment options.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Oversee the use of data analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of billing process changes. Track KPIs, generate performance dashboards, and provide insights to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams—including IT, finance, and compliance—and third-party vendors to ensure alignment on project goals and timely execution of billing-related initiatives.
  • Change Management & Training: Develop change management plans and lead training sessions to ensure successful adoption of new billing procedures, tools, and best practices by staff.
  • Compliance: Ensure patient billing practices comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and payor guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid).

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle management, or process improvement roles.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with patient billing systems, medical coding, insurance claims, and healthcare reimbursement processes.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Slides); experience with revenue cycle management software preferred.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Location: Proximity to the Bay Area, CA, or Austin, TX, valued but not required.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Duties performed in a remote working environment with occasional trips to Natera’s labs and offices in San Carlos, CA and Austin, TX.
  • Occasional travel within the US.
