Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree required, ideally in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or related field
  • Strong preference for Professional registration (PE, RA, RIA, AICP, CUD, CCM, PMP)
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience in architecture, construction, real estate development, owner’s representation, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from start to finish
  • Strong relationship management, communications, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency and experience with construction, building management and maintenance software preferred
  • Must obtain/maintain New York City residency within 180 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of development, from procurement of the architecture, engineering and construction team to existing conditions assessments, programming, feasibility studies, estimating and budgeting, schematic design through construction documentation, regulatory submissions, bidding, construction, and project close-out
  • Effectively manage relationships, represent the team with senior staff and stakeholders
  • Monitor and ensure project goals, including scope, budget and schedule, are met
  • Execute a risk-based management approach to project delivery: identifying project risk, forecasting project risk and appropriately mitigating project risk
  • Develop and implement solutions to complex problems independently and in coordination with team and supervisors
  • Navigate regulatory and approval processes to ensure positive project momentum
  • Lead and influence project teams to achieve desired outcomes
  • Represent NYCEDC at professional and public forums, including EDC executive committee
  • Create, build, and develop effective working relationships with consultants and Agency officials
  • Prioritize work; delegate as necessary
  • Interface with and coordinate the various departments at NYCEDC to ensure that the relevant expertise is brought to bear on each project
  • Contribute to the development of new concepts, processes, and standards
  • Build, implement, and propose processes and workflows that support departmental objectives and goals
  • Correctly interpret and apply NYCEDC policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively and inclusively at all levels of the organization
  • Provide oversight and mentorship of junior project managers on the team
  • Communicate highly sensitive and complex issues in a credible manner
  • Other duties as assigned
