Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 1 year of appropriate college science with lab (biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, environmental sciences, organic chemistry, or biochemistry)
  • 1 year college mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry)

Responsibilities

  • Carry out approved tests to comply with department objectives in a laboratory that supports manufacturing, including collecting samples from the manufacturing floor
  • Apply high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing, and environmental monitoring to ensure products are fit for use
  • Complete appropriate documentation, audit, and release of commodities or products
  • Complete housekeeping responsibilities including autoclave, waste disposal, general laboratory sanitation, etc
  • Prepare media for test procedures
  • Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) performance and compliance through active participation and support of Abbott’s EHS Program
  • Partner with fellow technicians with a high degree of motivation, attention to important details, and clear communication to all team members
  • Perform all testing in the lab through instruction via manuals and training
  • Problem solve when test results are out-of-specification to assign a cause and rule out lab error
