Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred (previous work experience in store with progressive responsibilities in leading day-to-day operations may be substituted)
2-3 years of prior management experience managing a team in a retail environment
History of successful job performance
Communicate effectively and build solid relationships with customers, peers, senior leadership (verbally and in writing)
Effectively coach and teach Team Members to success
Understand store business operating model (DIY, DIFM)
Responsibilities
Assist the General Manager in day-to-day store operations; learn all aspects of store operations and provide day-to-day direction to other store team members
In absence of Store Manager, assume responsibility for day-to-day activities of the store, such as sales goals, customer service, training, expense controls, conducting store meetings, etc
Maintain security and safety throughout the store at all times; ensure adherence to store safety and security policies by all store team members
If required, use company vehicle to deliver products and equipment to customers in a safe and courteous manner
Assist the GM in driving commercial and DIY sales; develop the team to high performing and collaborative levels
Help the store increase business results by exceeding all sales, payroll, and profit targets in conformity with company strategy and core values; ensure short and mid-term priorities are set to achieve financial targets
Build customer loyalty: greet customers entering the store, support sales efforts of outside sales professionals, maintain high standards of customer service including prompt handling of complaints
Keep current on all required training and support team members in their training opportunities, ensuring they use skills immediately; hold TMs accountable for successful outcomes/results
Review, understand, and follow store procedures, serving as a role model to ensure compliance by all store team members; perform at the Next Level by stepping up to GM level and owning store operations
May be required to mix paint, operate hydraulic hose maker, bench test starters and alternators, press wheel bearings, grind flywheels, machine brake drums and rotors, test/charge batteries, and other specialty duties
Monitor and manage inventory to ensure maximum profitability and product availability
Maintain store appearance and merchandising at or above established standards
Ensure a culture of mutual respect, high performance, recognition, candid feedback, and rewards for performance exists in the store
Ensure TMs have effective resources and efficiently use them to complete their work successfully
Monitor all activity in the store to ensure it is highly productive and drives key strategies; daily tasks include invoicing customers, entering customer credits and claim file invoices into computer, maintaining inventory log sheet
Bill labour-related shop invoices for stores with a machine shop
Operate all store equipment as needed
Work with store manager to oversee payroll to assure targets are being met
