Requirements

  • Enrollment in a post-secondary program in an area related to Disability Studies, Social Work or Special Education
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities & complex needs (considered an asset)
  • A positive attitude and belief that persons with disabilities have the right/responsibility to define and pursue their life choices, and pursue active participation and involvement within the community
  • Innate desire to help others
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a Team Environment
  • The successful completion of a Criminal Background Check
  • Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Required to access all staffed areas of the CNE grounds
  • Willingness to work in areas that may contain bright lights, loud noises and crowds of people

Responsibilities

  • Develop a supportive rapport with supervisory staff and actively seek out opportunities to provide assistance where needed
  • Assist and support individuals in developing and achieving their personal goals throughout their employment
  • Act as a Mentor and be a positive role model by being energetic, creative and resourceful
  • Help meet the needs of the Organization by supporting the success of our staff that need additional support
  • Develop an onboarding program specific to individual needs
  • Support the Recruiters to grow and improve upon the existing inclusive hiring initiatives
  • Work with the CNE Human Resources department, agencies and other applicable stakeholders to enhance accessibility standards
  • Assist with the planning and logistics surrounding accessible transportation for staff
  • Other duties as assigned
