Requirements

Meet ONE of the following: Two years of professional job-related experience in auto/diesel/farm, OR two years of construction/maintenance/repair, OR 2 months of experience through Lafayette Large Engine facility staffing agency, OR 6 months Caterpillar Logistics Assembly experience, OR two years manufacturing experience, OR technical degree in diesel engine, automotive, electrical, electronics, or agricultural/construction equipment technology
Strong electrical and mechanical background
Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed
Flexible, self-directed individual with strong sense of teamwork and good communication skills
Ability to work in fast-paced, medium to heavy duty assembly environment, including frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, standing on concrete for 8+ hours
Ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive hand movements with tooling
(Some positions) Ability to perform tasks on moving conveyor under time constraints
(Some positions) Ability to climb ladders, stairs, work on platforms, and at heights

Responsibilities

Assemble components and perform adjustments on diesel and natural gas engines
Perform assembly work in sub-assembly areas associated with prime product engine assembly
Prepare engines for testing, painting, and shipping
Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, gauges, measuring devices, specialized torque equipment, electrical testing equipment, fork trucks, lifting devices/cranes
Manipulate engine components during assembly process
Learn technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines
Support safety, quality, and production goals of the area
Utilize computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
Read and interpret standard work in computer programs, engineering prints, and factory paperwork
