Requirements

  • 5-8 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and basic knowledge/understanding of GD&T, including identifying and measuring surface finishes
  • Ability to use all necessary hand tools, grinders, drills, saws, power tools, and equipment
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schematics, and P&IDs
  • Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding, forklifts, and hoists
  • Flexible in work hours in accordance with project schedules
  • Fully understands and complies with company and safety policies
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work in a team environment building custom equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally; close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be a US citizen and eligible to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship)

Responsibilities

  • Work with little supervision using hand tools, power tools, and equipment to complete assembly activities (e.g., identifying parts/hardware, anchoring, installing windows, flanges, valves, piping, compression fittings, motors, pumps, shooting weld studs)
  • Modify parts using grinders, porta-powers, etc., to meet drawing and specification requirements
  • Occasionally assist with electrical assembly activities (e.g., installing conduit, power panels, pulling wire)
  • Perform cleaning and passivation of parts and assemblies
  • Safely use ladders, scaffolding, forklifts, and hoists to complete work
  • When needed, perform work in other departments such as material processing, polishing
  • Actively support a culture of continuous improvement
  • Look ahead to verify/obtain all materials, equipment, and consumables prior to starting a job
  • Review all jobs, including shop traveler and referenced documents, prior to task assignment and communicate needs
  • Package and prepare parts for shipment; assist in building crates
  • Recommend and evaluate new equipment, tooling, and methods to improve efficiency, safety, and quality
  • Standardize processes where applicable and train others
  • Provide direction to project coordinators, QA, engineering personnel, and shop personnel to organize and prioritize tasks for on-time, on-budget project completion
