Requirements

  • Portfolio showcasing excellence in crafting purposeful, beautiful designs for merchandise (apparel, soft and hard goods), including hands-on illustration and design work with production examples
  • Deep knowledge of materials, production processes, decoration techniques, complexities, and caveats
  • Proven examples of art directing, inventing, constructing, and conceptualizing innovative creative concepts, especially for abstract and technical subjects, transforming ideas into sought-after gear
  • Evidence of staying current with latest trends in apparel/merchandise space, tech industry trends/technologies, and embracing change
  • Demonstration of fundamental principles of art direction, graphic composition for brand, illustration, typography, video, photography, and 3D
  • Passion and ability to take intent/direction from peers/leaders, apply art direction skills to build vision, iterate quickly, revise, and produce final artwork
  • 10+ years of proven experience working with established brands, building/extending apparel or merchandise collections, collaborating with senior executive leadership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, and tracking work in project tools like Workfront
  • BFA, BS, or MFA in Graphic Development, Illustration, Fashion Composition, or equivalent field (or equivalent experience)

Responsibilities

  • Invent full range of items and compositions connecting to significant themes, narratives, and product launches
  • Define art direction for global employee Gear Store and company merchandise from concept to production, including aesthetic, color, materials, and overall style
  • Work with merchandise buyer and operations lead to establish roadmaps for product collections
  • Direct user experience and development of on-site store, event pop-ups, and website
